Greece opens borders to all citizens

From February 7, 2022, borders will open to all citizens and tests will be canceled for holders of EU-approved vaccine certificates.

The test is not needed if the entrant has one of the following documents:

  • European certificate of vaccination
  • European disease certificate

If such documents are not available, one of the following documents is required:

  • Negative PCR test not older than 72 hours
  • Negative rapid test not older than 24 hours

[ ! ] Those vaccinated with the Sputnik V vaccine or those who have been ill, but do not have a European certificate, tests are still needed. All changes apply only to holders of an EU-approved vaccine.

The text of the document in Greek is attached to this article.

From February 1, 2022, the validity of vaccination certificates will be reduced to 7 months

You can enter Greece without a certificate – a PCR test no older than 72 hours is now required from everyone, including those vaccinated.

But getting into public places within the country with an expired document will not work if you do not "extend" it with a booster dose.

Also required:

  • All entrants, in addition to the test at the airport upon arrival, pass control tests on the 2nd and 4th day
  • Wearing a mask anywhere
  • In supermarkets and public transport, the use of a KN-95 FFP2 type mask or a double regular mask is required

The Greek authorities have accelerated the procedure for issuing a QR code

Now passengers flying to Greece (with the exception of persons traveling through Greece for a transit purpose), who for any reason did not fill out the PLF form in advance, can do this directly at the airport of departure, right before the flight.

Now the QR code is sent to your e-mail immediately after submitting the Passenger Locator Form (PLF), which previously had to be completed no later than 24 hours before departure.

If, for some technical reason, the link with the QR code does not come, you will be asked to show a letter informing you that the PLF has been completed.

You need to show the data with a QR code three times:

  • For the first time – when checking in for a flight at the airport
  • The second time – upon arrival in Greece to border officials: they will visually check the PLF with a QR code and only then will they be allowed to go to passport control
  • The third time was during testing for COVID-19 (rapid antigen test). At the Athens airport, special boxes are equipped to which passengers are directed by airport staff.

Also in Greece, tourists without a PCR test or a vaccination certificate will not be allowed on cruises to the islands (reports RTVI)

The Coast Guard checks for vaccination certificates or negative PCR tests.

Prior to the Coast Guard taking on this responsibility, Maritime Transport Minister Yannis Plakiotakis said the port authorities carried out numerous checks on compliance with anti-epidemiological measures and criticized ship employees for non-compliance.
