From June 1, 2022, Turkey has abolished the requirement to provide a certificate of vaccination, PCR or a rapid test for coronavirus to enter the country through all types of borders.

Entry rules from October 14, 2021

Uzbekistan Airways reported: according to information from the Turkish authorities, starting from October 14, 2021, as part of the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, the following rules for entering the territory of the Republic of Turkey have come into force.

  • Persons who have visited Brazil, South Africa, Nepal and Sri Lanka in the last 14 days must submit a negative PCR test result made no later than 72 hours before arrival in the country. These passengers will have to spend 14 days in quarantine in hotels designated by the authorities. Accommodation and airport transfers are paid by passengers.
  • Travelers arriving directly from Bangladesh, India and Pakistan and passengers who have traveled to these countries in the past 14 days must present a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival. These passengers will be exempted from quarantine if they submit a document on vaccination with two doses of a drug registered by WHO or in Turkey for emergency use (for "Johnson&Johnson" vaccine – 1 dose), while the last dose must be made at least 14 days before arrival. Otherwise, these persons will have to leave the quarantine at the place of residence or at the address indicated by them. If a negative PCR test result is received on the 10th day, quarantine will be terminated.
  • Persons arriving from Afghanistan or who have been to this country in the last 14 days must provide a negative PCR test result taken within 72 hours of arrival. They will also have to serve quarantine for 10 days at hotels designated by the authorities. Accommodation and airport transfers are charged to passengers. If a negative test result is received on the 7th day, the quarantine will be terminated.
  • Afghan citizens who permanently reside or have a work permit in Turkey, in the case of a valid residence permit or work permit, will be allowed on board the aircraft, exempted from quarantine at the hotel, but must undergo quarantine at their place of residence. These persons, who entered Turkey not through Istanbul or Ankara, will be able to reach their place of residence only by private cars, they will not be allowed to travel within the country or use public transport.
  • Passengers arriving from the UK, Iran, Egypt and Singapore must present a negative PCR test result no later than 72 hours prior to arrival in Turkey.
  • Turkish citizens arriving from Afghanistan will be exempted from hotel quarantine, but will have to be quarantined at their place of residence. These persons, who entered Turkey not through Istanbul or Ankara, will be able to reach their place of residence only by private cars, they will not be allowed to travel within the country or use public transport.
  • Children under 12 years old arriving in Turkey from abroad are accepted without providing a negative PCR test (recall that previously only children under 6 years old were exempted from these measures).

Turkish citizens and all other passengers entering from other countries are exempt from quarantine if they have one of the following documents:

  • Certificate of completion of the full course of vaccination with 2 doses of drugs registered by WHO or in Turkey for emergency use (for Johnson & Johnson vaccine - 1 dose). At least 14 days must have elapsed since the last vaccination.
  • Document about a past illness in the last 6 months, starting from the 28th day from the first positive PCR test

In the absence of a vaccination certificate or a document on a past illness, passengers must provide:

  • Negative result of a PCR test done in the last 72 hours before entry
  • Negative result of a rapid antigen test done in the last 48 hours before entry

[ ! ] All documents (vaccination certificate, PCR / antigen tests) will be checked by the airlines before the flight. In their absence, passengers will not be allowed to fly!

Persons undergoing quarantine at the hotel will have to pay for their accommodation before arriving in Turkey. Passengers who cannot prove that they have made the necessary payment for accommodation in the hotel specified by the authorities will not be allowed to board the plane by the airline operators.
