Kazakhstan lifts quarantine requirements

From June 8, 2022, Kazakhstan cancels the requirement to provide a PCR test or a certificate of vaccination against COVID-19 for both citizens of the republic and foreigners when crossing the border.

In addition, the work of 12 temporarily closed automobile border crossing points in 7 regions of the country is being resumed.

From May 15, 2022, railway communication with Kazakhstan is resumed

In order to avoid misunderstandings among those traveling to Kazakhstan, we remind you that there are still a number of restrictive requirements for passengers crossing the border.

1. At checkpoints across the border of Kazakhstan, you will need to present a certificate of passing a PCR test for coronavirus infection, which must be in one of three languages – Russian, English or Kazakh.

2. The certificate is valid for no more than 72 hours after issuance at the time of crossing the border.

3. Help is not needed:

  • Children under the age of 5, provided that the accompanying persons have a negative PCR test result
  • Members of government delegations of the Republic of Kazakhstan
  • Locomotive crews and other persons involved in transportation activities on rail, sea or river transport
  • Persons who have a certificate of full vaccination and revaccination received in the Republic of Kazakhstan no more than six months ago
  • Persons with certificates of vaccination and revaccination, which were recognized as valid on the territory of Kazakhstan by order of the chief sanitary doctor of the country

4. Citizens of Uzbekistan also have the opportunity to present a certificate using the mobile application "Traveling COVID-19 Free" (download GooglePlay, AppStore)

5. If an arriving passenger has an elevated temperature, then he will be isolated in an infectious diseases hospital, regardless of the presence of a negative PCR test.

From April 11, 2022, restrictions between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are lifted

From April 11, 2022, restrictions on crossing the state border of Kazakhstan with Uzbekistan by air are lifted

[ ! ] Important: at the same time, Kazakhstanis and foreigners who have a residence permit on the territory of Kazakhstan, and foreign citizens will need to present a negative test result for Covid-19 (valid for 72 hours) or a certificate of full vaccination / revaccination against Covid-19 before boarding for Uzbekistan Airways flights.

Both states mutually recognized vaccination certificates made in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

Entry rules from January 17, 2022

All passengers (including vaccinated passengers) must provide a PCR certificate with a negative COVID-19 test result.

The certificate is considered valid for 72 hours from the date of material collection until the moment of crossing the border of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The certificate must be in English, Russian or Kazakh and have a QR code.

Sanitary and quarantine requirements for international flights to Kazakhstan

All arriving persons, when crossing the state border of the Republic of Kazakhstan, are obliged to submit a PCR test with a negative result for COVID-19, from the date of issuance of the result of which at the time of crossing the state border of the Republic of Kazakhstan no more than 72 hours have passed, with the exception of children under 5 years of age with the presence of a PCR test in persons accompanying them. If the PCR test is issued in a language other than Russian, English or Kazakh, translation into one of these languages is required.

The procedure for crossing the State Border of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the period of quarantine restrictions

To enter the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan during the period of quarantine restrictions, foreign citizens must be citizens of the country with which the Republic of Kazakhstan resumed direct air communication, and follow from this country by direct flight. On flights "Tashkent – Almaty/Nur-Sultan – Tashkent" citizens of 11 countries with which direct flights have been resumed are accepted for transportation.

At the airports of the cities of Nur-Sultan and Almaty, the ASHYQ project is being piloted for all passengers

According to the protocol of the Interdepartmental Commission on Preventing the Emergence and Spread of Coronavirus Infection in the Republic of Kazakhstan, from May 12, 2021, the ASHYQ project (mobile application) is being implemented in a pilot mode at the airports of Nur-Sultan and Almaty for all passengers.

Within the framework of this project ASHYQ, the status of the visitor is checked through a QR code or by IIN at the airports of Nur-Sultan and Almaty. Admission is carried out by scanning and presenting a special QR code of passengers at the entrance.

The identification of infected or contacted visitors is determined as follows:

  • green status – PCR testing with a negative result for COVID-19
  • blue status – no PCR result
  • yellow status – indicated in the database as a contact with a COVID-19 patient
  • red status – positive for COVID-19, passengers with status "infected" code - U07.2

For contacts who have negative PCR test results for COVID-19, the "yellow" status remains until 14 days have passed from the date of contact with a person who tests positive for COVID-19.

Visitors with "yellow" and "red" status will not be allowed to enter the terminal and to fly.

In connection with the above, passengers must install the "ASHYQ" mobile application. (download Google Play, App Store) and to avoid crowds at the entrance to the terminal, arrive in advance at the above airports of departure to go through a series of procedures before departure.

Visa regime of the Republic of Kazakhstan for foreign citizens for the period of quarantine restrictions

In accordance with the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 286 dated April 30, 2021, the visa-free regime established in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan for citizens of the countries listed in paragraph 17 of the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 148 dated January 21, 2012 was suspended unilaterally for a period until December 31, 2021.
