Hotel classification

Today in the hotel business there is no single organization that standardizes hotel services and sets the level of a hotel. This is usually done by the national hotel association. She also monitors the hotel's compliance with the requirements. The practice of countries popular from a tourist point of view is that most large hotels try to enter the national association, which sets standards for hotels and certifies them according to approximately the following criteria:

Alternative hotel classification

In a number of countries, there is an alternative classification of hotels, for example:

In Turkey, you can relax in club hotels (Holliday Village), which are divided into:

  • HV1 is a hotel of the club system of the first category with accommodation in cottages (approximately corresponds to 3* – 4*). They are distinguished by good animation, a large green area, but the rooms are small
  • HV2 is a club hotel of a lower category

In Greece, in some regions, the designation of hotels in Latin letters has been preserved:

  • Deluxe: 5*
  • А: 4* – 4*+
  • В: 3* – 3*+
  • С: 2*
  • D: 1*

The remoteness of the hotel from the sea (beach)

  • First coastline – a hotel located directly on the beach
  • The second coastline is a hotel, between the beach and the territory of which there is a road or a promenade
  • City hotel – a hotel located in a resort town. Usually you need to get to the beach on foot or by bus
